Hello - I’m Shelby Thayne!

I’m a watercolor artist, educator and self-proclaimed creativity enthusiast!

One of the great joys of my life has been rediscovering creativity and giving myself permission and freedom to paint. It is healing, joyful, and a source of strength in my life. In sharing my art with you, I hope you can experience that same healing, joy, and strength in your own heart and home.

I paint mountains because I can’t not paint mountains.

I have always been drawn to mountains, and I crave being in them. I grew up in the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and spent time in my childhood hiking and adventuring in nature. I feel a sense of peace and sacredness in the mountains that is hard to replicate in the noise of daily living. My art is a way to quiet the noise and invite the serenity and wonder of mountains into our everyday lives — even when we aren’t in the mountains.

I have been lucky enough to live in Colorado, Utah, Washington, and most recently Eastern Idaho, and I am inspired by the beauty, nature, and mountains in each of these places.

In addition to creating artwork and products, I have the joy of sharing my creative passion and unique approach to watercolor with students through my watercolor workshops and online classes.
